Heart Pine Gun Cabinet
Built of 150 year old reclaimed Southern Heart Pine, this rustic gun cabinet was custom built for Robert in Colleyville, Texas. This handsome and rugged gun case measured
84” high x 60” wide x 23” deep, and includes such features as hand forged hardware, locking doors and upper drawers, 8” wide panel/faces flanking the doors, opposing internal
racks for greater gun storage, interior lighting and a light switch.
Robert’s room was finished in heart pine. If fact, from the same exact wood pile! When our supplier failed to produce the heart pine we ordered to build this cabinet,
and we were having trouble locating old growth pine, Robert suggested we contact the shop that built his doors and milled his trim work.
They still had around 400 board feet left over from that project.
For the hunter, outdoorsman, or gun enthusiast, few home furnishings bring as much satisfaction as a high-quality, custom made gun cabinet, built by a skilled cabinet maker. Building in dozens of styles, and with woods ranging from tiger maple to reclaimed heart pine, not only are our cabinets a wonderful way to display your collection of high-end firearms, we can design a gun case to fit any décor or taste. This cabinet was custom built and designed to display 16 rifles from Robert’s antique collection of Winchester .32 Cal. rifles in the left section, while also displaying 12 of his more modern fire arms in the right section. We have incorporated secret hidden compartments to hide hand guns within our gun cabinets, built false fronts to cloak the fact that the beautiful curio or china cabinet actually conceals a row of fire arms, and recently hid an electronic finger print operated pistol safe in a cabinet. We have hid guns in grandfather clocks, beds, and couches. If you have a need to display or conceal any weapon, we can come up with a creative and attractive way to make it a reality.
A shot of the custom, hand forged “finger” latches used to hold the doors closed, and pull them open. There is another custom forged latch that holds the left door closed, with its release handle found inside the right compartment.
A close-up one of the reworked H & L flush mount hinges. A shallow electrical box is mounted through the gun case’s back that holds the light switch and wooden cover on the inside. An extension cord is all that’s needed to supply power to the CD converter that powers the pair of 20 watt fixtures mounted within the cabinets upper compartments.
