Custom Heirloom Flame Cherry
& Bird's Eye Maple Shaker Gun Cabinet
Quality, Built to Order by Delnero Custom Furniture Company
Hand Crafted quality Furniture in many styles, since 1963
Built of the finest heirloom grade flame cherry and bird's eye maple money can buy, this exquisite Shaker styled 12 gun, gun cabinet
is a true work of art. The stiles and rails flow across the piece, being carefully cut from the same pieces of wood. Knobs hand
turned by us of solid Honduras mahogany adorn the doors and drawers.
Gun collectors enjoy many of the custom extras we can incorporate into our gun cabinets. This cabinet had lights inside the gun compartment that could be turned on to display the guns with a switch in the cabinet's back.
The bird's eye maple used in the 15 dovetailed drawer faces and book matched upper & lower side panels were fashioned out of a "series" lot of lumber. These are small lots of extremely figured hardwoods that are sold out of the same tree. As no two maple trees will yield the same color or figure pattern of bird's eye or tiger, it is desirable to purchase such lots, though very expensive. The bird's eye used in this beautiful gun cabinet has a desirable characteristic called "quilting". Some of the finest bird's eye not only sports an abundance of uniform eyes, but they sit on a background of quilt like grain with an iridescence that appears to dance with the slightest movement of the viewer.
Most manufactures of fine furniture would cut such lots into very thin veneers, and laminate them onto secondary woods like poplar. Here at Delnero Custom Furniture Co. we still use SOLID planks of real woods in all our sides, panels, tops, bottoms, faces, stiles, rails, doors, drawer faces, sides, and backs, skirt boards, crowns, and legs.
