Reclaimed Spruce Rustic Plant Cupboard
Early Settler's Furniture by Delnero Rustic Furniture
Custom Made Handcrafted Furniture
50" High x 30" Wide x 14" Deep
This cupboard and plant holder was built out of planks of Spruce from the hay mount floor of a very old barn in Northern Vt. It features 3 hand smithed, solid copper pans. The center pan measures 13 1/2" x 13 1/2" x 3", and is flanked by two pans that measure 13 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 3". The pans are tinned and hold water.
Hand forged "H" style flush hinges and hand turned Black Walnut knobs adorn the 3 dovetailed drawers and free floating flat panel doors. Behind the door is an adjustable shelf.
Reveled by lightly hand planing just under the dusty surface of these planks, we found aged wood full of worm holes and natural patina. We used only Linseed Oil to finish this piece. The rich color of this piece doesn't come from a stain, but rather from a century of aging.
A close up of one of the side copper pans. These pans are built with the use of an old fashioned steel rim, wrapped with the sides of the pan. This design not only adds strength and makes the edges not sharp, it creates a ledge to hold the pans. If you wish to work on a plant, simply lift the pan out of the top of the cupboard.
