Early Settler's Rustic Painted Entertainment Center
Early Settler's Rustic Furniture by Delnero Rustic Furniture
Hand Made Rustic Center by Justin Winters in Fort Plain, N.Y.
Custom Made Handcrafted Furniture
This rustic entertainment center was built to order by a forth generation member of our family. Apprenticing at Delnero Furniture for just two years,
Justin, (18 years old at time of project) possessed the skills needed to built this rustic entertainment center. The clients who ordered this entertainment
center, along with a rustic farmhouse table, were thrilled to have the young men here build their pieces. Below, enjoy a few images of the cabinet being built.
Justin uses the band saw to cut the Shaker styled legs into this custom built cupboard.
Shelves of solid wood are fit and secured into dado joints cut into the sides of the base. He applies glue, and is sinking 2 1/2" wood screws into 3/8" plug holes.
The base's side boards also had rabbet joints cut into the back edges to accept and hold the base's back into place. Justin hammers in hand cut nails to
secure the back to the base.
Here Justin is measuring a face rail to be fit and secured to the left side of the upper section of the cabinet.
Justin's first doors and drawers are hand fit into place. We still fit all our doors and drawers inside the face boards, as was a common practice generations
earlier. It takes a much higher level of workmanship and time to fit doors and drawers in this fashion.
I'd be proud too, if this was my first piece built completely by myself! Justin will one day be one of the finest furniture builders to be found.
Here Justin is applying the base coat of black paint to his project. It will have 3 more coats applied, before the painstaking process of wearing
some off of the edges.
