Nick lives in a 120 year old Brownstone located in Brooklyn, N.Y. It was his intent to have custom cabinets built to match the wonderful white oak woodwork found in these beautiful old buildings. He also designed the kitchen, and performed the complete room renovation himself.

This kitchen features cabinets built in the sturdy Mission Style. Heavy white oak boards were quarter sawn to uncloak the straight uniform grains with the distinctive "fleck" patterns found in most Mission furniture. An interesting design feature Nick wished to incorporate into the base cabinets was the use of legs, instead of today's typical toe kicks. Building cabinets by hand, to any specifications, has made us a favorite with many clients, Architects, and Designers.

The goal was to have us build custom kitchen cabinets that looked original to his brownstone, while incorporating some newer conveniences and appliances. The right two drawers of this soap stone sink cabinet house a pair of dish washers. These new eco friendly washers allow one the option of doing a full load, or just a half. The small oval plates are actually the control panels.

The drawer slide hardware was Blum's new auto close, under drawer style. The drawers are full extension, with no sight of the slides. Convenient handles under the drawers allow for easy removal and attachment of the drawer. A light push glides the drawer, and when the face of the drawer gets within 3 inches of the cabinet face, a set of pistons within the hardware automatically pulls the drawer to the closed position.

The leaded glass details in the glass door along with the square wood pegs, matched original built-in doors in the adjacent dining room. We offer a wide selection of leaded glass panels, all hand made. All of our leaded glass doors are custom made by Martin McElhone of Celtic Creations, a talented New England Artisan.
