Solid Cherry Colonial Double Pedestal Extension Table & Chairs
Quality, Built to Order by Delnero Custom Furniture Company
Hand Crafted Heirloom Furniture, built in the Mohawk Valley of New York
During the flood of 2006, clients to be, lost everything on the 1st floor of their New Port, NY home. Fortunately they carried flood
insurance which covered the replacement of their dining room furniture. This impressive double pedestal cherry extension table measured
60" long x 30" high x 42" wide when closed, and opened to 120" long x 30" high x 42" wide, and was part of a set that included a china
cabinet, and break front buffet server. The couple had pictures of their original pieces, and wanted custom built furniture to carry
many of the same lines.
The massive pedestals were hand turned from solid blocks of cherry. Each base had three 8/4" legs that secured to the turnings. The leaves are held in place with 3/8" steel pins, 3 per leaf, and set on traditional wooden extension table slides.
A colonial style open back mortise chair. We build all our chairs without spindles. Spindle built chairs (though lighter in appearance) are a weaker design due to the much smaller amount of surface area within its joints, and will not stand the test of time. As we guarantee our workmanship for life, this is important to us.
